Rust and paint – finishing the coat
This week we would invite you to make Lovis spiffy again! There is no place on the ship that sea water and air can’t turn into a wonderful new rusty corner. Therefore, you are invited to put a stop to the corrosion with sweat and dexterity, and to give the ship a shiny seasonal coat of fresh new paint. We will try to finish the last works on the steel and reduce the optical defects, to start with a flawless beauty to new adventures.
We invite you to working together from 19.02. to 26.02. a few days on board to live, to laugh, to feast and also to make us comfortable and cozy.

This week too is primarily about the wooden parts: masts, gaffs, booms etc are going to have most of our attention. If you are excited about works like sanding and painting, you are very welcome to help. Please contact sophia[ät]lovis[dot]de
Rust and paint (FLINTA* only!)
During our rust and paint week Lovis will be a FLINTA* only space (womenLesbianNonbinaryTransAgender*). We invite all persons who define themselves as FLINTA* to craft, work and have a nice wintertime on the ship together. In addition to rust- and paint-works there will also be time for other smaller constructions on board. We want to share knowledge, learn from and with each other, build, laugh, cook, talk and spend a good time together at Lovis in Greifswald.
If you are interested please contact us: annika[ät]lovis[dot]de
Additional information will reach you via email.

Precise Derusting
Massage the steel
The first rust and paint-week is for precise works on the steel. We want to derust spots that are hard to reach and make them stay clean for the next years. (Who preferes less precise working will find a suiting task, too).
If you want to take part please write to martin@lovis.de .
At the beginning of 2023 we will derust the quick and dirty way and Lovis will get her paint finish. Details will follow.
SAILING FOR AND WITH STREET MUSICSIANS
To all musicians and people, who like making music, no matter which instrument, voice, or which style you prefer…! Make music and sail the Baltic Sea with strong winds in our sails. We want to offer a space for musical exchange and experiments for both bands and individual musicians on the open sea. Smaller and bigger groups can jam together, improvise or give a concert on the ship or onshore. There are lots of small port towns where we can make music everywhere -may it be a pedestrian zone or the harbour itself, individually or in groups. We can also use Lovis as a stage.
After the experience of the previous trips we would like to use the common space more and more for the exchange of skills and experiences – be it musically, in terms of content, or in terms of stage presence/performance etc.
In addition to the musical activities, sailing also has its place. Everyone joins in! On the journey, the sails are set and hoisted together with the ship’s crew, the ship is cleaned, the cooking is done and all the necessary tasks are carried out together.
Existing groups and individual musicians are all warmly welcome. Especially as an individual musician i’s important to be able to improvise together with other musicians. Your music and your instruments should fit to the ship and to the street (rather unplugged, portable and without huge technical equipment). Unfortunately the ship has no piano, but it offers enough space even for bigger instruments like a double-bass.
The cost contribution (includes food, harbour fee etc.) varies between 280 EUR and 420 EUR -depending on your appraisal.
If you are interested please write us a few lines about you and your music to: lars-r@lovis.de
PIRATES AHOY!
Have you ever heard that the female Chinese pirate Cheng I Sao commanded a fleet of 1500 ships with 80.000 pirates in the early 19th century? And that the two pirates Anne Bonny and Mary Read both found piracy disguised as male pirates in the early 18th century and eventually found each other and went down in history as notorious buccaneers? No? Neither did we for a long time and that’s why we want to revive a bit of invisible (made) history together and use our beautiful ship to dive into the lives of different pirates together with you.
Our idea: We bring a few biographies of pirates and work on them together with different creative approaches. For example, we could use storytelling, theater, creative writing or photography. We will have some of this with us, and some of it will emerge in the course of the trip. And of course there will be a lot of sailing, laughing and feasting and we will see/ find out? together what we feel like doing.
In order to organize our trip together in the best possible way, we invite you in advance to 1-2 (of course voluntary) online preparation meetings. There we can collect ideas and plan the trip. You don’t have to bring any practical sailing experience.
All FLINTA* are invited, i.e. women, lesbians, inter-, non-binary-, trans- and agender-persons. Children are also welcome. We are looking forward to seeing you!
If you want to join us, please contact us at: sophia@lovis.de
*Trip fee: according to self-assessment 280-420 EUR (If this is difficult for you, please contact us and we will find a solution.)

SAILING THE NORTH SEA
We want to approach the motto “sails always, engine never” as far as the situation allows. This means that together we will look at what the weather and our mood offer and take care of the safe and fun progress with Lovis in alternating shifts. In addition to lookouts, navigation, steering and sailing manoeuvres, we also enjoy good conversations, games and delicious food. And even though we have quite a distance to cover, we will certainly find the opportunity to anchor or moor up in a nice harbour every now and then. Previous experience is not a prerequisite, much can be learned and tried out during the trip.
The cost contribution for the trip is 640 to 950 EUR according to your own assessment.
If you are interested or have any questions, please contact us at valerie-h@lovis.de
We look forward to a wonderful, sociable time together, full of sailing, life and pleasure!
