Successful protest in Hamburg: Negotiations will be resumed

Last tuesday, together with some of you, about 50 people were protesting in front of the chamber of commerce in Hamburg against the draft of the new ship safety directive.

Previously Angela Merkel regrettably rejected to receive an open letter from the crews of traditional ships and their umbrella association during the maritime conference.

Still our protest made the minister of transport Alexander Dobrindt to come outside and a meeting was arranged for the same day. The demands written during that meeting were handed over and Alexander Dobrindt promised the start of new negotiations with all interested crews.

This is a huge step forward and we are now hoping that the negotiations are going to be an open-ended process. If the demands of the ships are only heard but not taken into account, we will continue our protest on all major maritime events this year!

Thanks to all of you who supperted us in Hamburg!

There will be a preliminary talk with the ministry of transport and our umbrella association on april 24th in Berlin – to prepare ourselves for that day we invite everyone interested to a meeting at

    café “K-Fetisch”, Wildenbruchstr. 86 in 12045 Berlin on april 18th, 7 p.m.
