There is an old seafaring wisdom that says it brings misfortune if you give a ship a new name.
Lovis — built as a steamer Malmö — already has an eventful history behind her. Her latest name she is carrying only since March 18th 2000. With the new name a new face and a new concept came along.
In the years 1999 and 2000 a sailing vessel was built on the model of the almost identical cargo lugger “Wilhelm Lühring”. Since then, Lovis develops in any construction period.
With her new name, Lovis has already seen more than during the long period before: Spitsbergen, almost the entire Baltic Sea the Kattegat and the Gulf of Bothnia, the Baltic countries and St. Petersburg, the British Isles, the Norwegian fjords. More than 60,000 nautical miles lay behind her.
The new name has brought us only luck so far!Text drucken
